Children of active duty Armed Forces members stationed in South Carolina have a brand new, amazing opportunity.
A new state law signed at the beginning of May 2025 gives military families priority application status for $7,500 scholarships that can be used for K-12 education expenses, including private school tuition, tutoring, disability therapies, school supplies, curriculum, online classes, and so much more.
From May 12, 2025, until 8am on May 19, 2025, military families have a priority week to get their applications submitted for this program, the Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF). Click here to apply.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Proof of Guardianship
- Legal documents may include foster paperwork, adoption papers, divorce agreements, dependents claimed on 2023 or 2024 tax returns, or a birth certificate.
- Proof of income
- 2023 or 2024 tax return documentation or, if you do not file taxes, information on income OR
the Medicaid card issued by DHHS for each Medicaid eligible student. - There is some nontaxable income that must be counted, including housing stipends, alimony, tax-exempt interest, and more. See the full list on our FAQs page.

- Proof of South Carolina residency
- Driver’s License or State Issued ID, Utility Bills (Gas, Electric, Water), Government/ Govt. Agency Issued Mail (TANF, SNAP, voter registration cards, tax assessments, etc.) Mortgage Statements.
TO BE ELIGIBLE, A STUDENT MUST…
✅ Be in kindergarten through 12th grade and not exceed 22 years of age
✅ Have a household income within 300% of the federal poverty line (including some nontaxable income like housing stipends, alimony, and interest…visit our FAQs for specifics).
✅ Be a South Carolina resident or the child of an Armed Forces Member stationed in South Carolina
✅ Not attend their resident public school in the 2025-26 school year
